CDH19 Target and Research Tools for Cancer Studies
Cadherin-19 (CDH19) is a member of the classical cadherin family with expression predominantly associated with the nervous system. It plays an important role in Schwann cell differentiation, neural development, and axon-glia interactions through calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Compared with broadly studied cadherins such as CDH1 or CDH3, CDH19 exhibits a more tissue- and cell-type specific biological profile. Current studies on CDH19 are mainly focused on neural development, biomarker exploration, and differential expression analyses in disease contexts. Emerging evidence suggests that CDH19 shows altered expression patterns in certain tumor types, potentially linking it to tumor classification or disease progression. However, CDH19 has not yet been established as a clinically validated therapeutic target, and no mature drug development programs have been reported to date. As such, CDH19 is generally regarded as an exploratory cancer-related target with translational potential rather than a proven drug target. Exploring more information of Cadherin Family…
