MUC1 Recombinant Proteins, Antibodies and Stable Cell Lines

MUC1 (Mucin 1), also known as EMA or MAM6, is a type I transmembrane mucin composed of a highly glycosylated extracellular MUC1-N subunit and a membrane-associated MUC1-C subunit. Its extracellular region contains a variable number of tandem repeats rich in serine and threonine residues that undergo extensive O-glycosylation. In healthy epithelial tissues, MUC1 is predominantly localized to the apical surface of glandular and luminal epithelial cells, where it contributes to mucosal barrier protection. During malignant transformation, MUC1 can become overexpressed, lose its polarized distribution, and exhibit altered glycosylation. These changes expose tumor-associated peptide and glycan epitopes that are normally masked in healthy tissues, making MUC1 an attractive target for antibodies, ADCs, multispecific molecules, vaccines, and engineered cell therapies.
