TSHR recombinant proteins and antibodies

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Receptor (TSHR) is a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) located on the surface of thyroid cells, playing a central role in regulating the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones. The primary function of TSHR is to bind to thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), activating downstream signaling pathways that regulate thyroid hormone production, which is crucial for maintaining metabolic balance and energy metabolism in the body. TSHR not only plays an essential role in normal thyroid function but also exhibits abnormal expression or functional changes in certain thyroid diseases, such as Graves’ disease and thyroid cancer.

In thyroid-related diseases, abnormal activation of TSHR is closely associated with the development of various pathological conditions. For example, in Graves’ disease, autoantibodies against TSHR stimulate abnormal activation of the thyroid, leading to excessive thyroid hormone secretion and symptoms of hyperthyroidism. On the other hand, overexpression of TSHR is also associated with the occurrence and progression of certain thyroid cancers. Therefore, TSHR has become a promising target for the treatment of thyroid diseases, especially in autoimmune thyroid disorders and thyroid cancer.

Currently, ongoing drug development targeting TSHR is primarily focused on antibody therapies and small molecule drugs. Some monoclonal antibodies are under development with the aim of specifically blocking the function of TSHR, thereby inhibiting the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones. These antibodies could be used to treat autoimmune thyroid diseases like Graves’ disease. In addition, small molecule drugs are being researched to inhibit TSHR signaling, potentially slowing the progression of thyroid cancer. Several pharmaceutical companies have entered the field of TSHR-targeted research, particularly in the areas of immunotherapy for thyroid diseases and cancer treatment. Notable companies such as Gilead, Pfizer, and Acri have made progress in developing TSHR-targeted therapies, particularly in the treatment of thyroid autoimmune diseases and thyroid cancer. These companies aim to provide new treatment options for patients with thyroid-related disorders by developing more precise and effective therapies targeting TSHR.
