It plays a role in odorant detection and signal transduction, coupling to olfactory G proteins (Golf) to activate adenylyl cyclase and cAMP signaling. OR10J5 contributes to olfactory perception, odor discrimination, and sensory signaling. While primarily studied in smell detection, variations in OR genes may influence olfactory sensitivity and perception among individuals. |
