IL6 Recombinant Proteins, Antibodies and Reference Antibodies

Interleukin-6 (IL-6, IL6) is a pleiotropic inflammatory cytokine produced by monocytes, macrophages, T cells, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and other cell types in response to infection, injury, and inflammatory stimuli. IL-6 first binds IL-6Rα and then recruits the signal-transducing subunit gp130, activating JAK/STAT3, MAPK, and PI3K/AKT pathways. Signaling can occur through membrane-bound IL-6R in classical signaling or through soluble IL-6R in trans-signaling, substantially expanding the range of responsive cells. IL-6 regulates acute-phase responses, lymphocyte differentiation, hematopoiesis, tissue repair, and metabolism, while persistent pathway activation is associated with autoimmune disease, chronic inflammation, cytokine dysregulation, and selected tumor microenvironments.
