CD40 Ligand/CD154 Recombinant Proteins and Reference Antibodies

CD40 Ligand (CD40L), encoded by CD40LG and also known as CD154, is a member of the TNF ligand superfamily and the natural ligand of CD40. CD40L is transiently induced on activated CD4+ T cells and can also be expressed by activated platelets and selected additional cell types. Interaction with CD40 on B cells, dendritic cells, monocytes, and macrophages drives immunoglobulin class switching, germinal-center responses, antigen-presenting-cell maturation, and T-cell priming. The CD40-CD40L pathway therefore represents a central connection between T-cell help and humoral immunity. Excessive signaling can contribute to autoantibody production and chronic inflammation, while controlled activation can enhance antitumor immune responses.
